The purpose of the Lientjie Blok Art Centre is to teach Art as a subject to learners from local schools within the guidelines of the National Educational FET Syllabus. Grade 10 to 12 learners from local schools attend afternoon classes in which they are trained in the skills and techniques of Visual Art and/or Design.

The Art Centre is affiliated and accredited by the West Coast Educational Department as an individual school since 2003. Visual art entails Traditional painting; Conceptual installation work and Sculpture, while design students can choose to specialize in Product, Surface, Communication or Fashion Design.

Learners who want to take art as a subject need to register at the Art School before the end of November of each year to be admitted for the following year.

Some of the competitions that the Lientjie Blok Art School featured in and where we won prizes are:

  • Making a Difference through Design, hosted by Woolworths.
  • Strokes of Genius, hosted by Shoprite
